After starting as a small general contracting firm in 2011, HIX decided to focus on Healthcare. Small interior renovations were our specialty, those difficult projects in NICU, Sterile Processing, OR, and Transplant units. The ones with lots of eyes and patient risk, where infection prevention is difficult. We got really good at infection control, so good, that it grew into a separate business. Even though IP was now our focus, we still struggled in keeping up with all of the paperwork. Not just ensuring that it was complete, but also getting those documents in the right hands promptly. We were wasting time physically auditing checklists, verifying things were up to date, building spreadsheets, sending emails, pulling pressure data with flash drives, and converting it to actionable data. We finally said, “This is crazy!” we need to put the documents in a place where the facilities, IP, contractors, and other team members can access them. A place where they could see not just documents, but also their status. It didn’t need be complicated, it needed to be simple.
